Observing strictly the health protocols, Bacoleños attended, in orderly fashion, the first of the nine mornings of Aguinaldo Masses at the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City.
During the 3:30 AM Mass, presider Msgr. Joy. G. Jimera, VG, Rector of San Sebastian Cathedral, reminded the congregation to strictly observe established health protocols by the City of Bacolod.
To avoid overcrowding, the whole stretch of Rizal Street, from corner Gatuslao and San Juan Streets, was closed to traffic from December 16 to 24. This, after the City of Bacolod issued Resolution No. 859, Series of 2020 in response to Bishop Patricio A. Buzon’s request. In a letter dated December 3, 2020, the Bishop said that that closure was for the purpose of providing an “alternative open space” so that Mass goers can observe proper social distancing.
In his homily during the 5:00 AM Mass at the Cathedral, Bishop Buzon reminded the people about the legacy of 500 years of Christianity and the call for all, especially young people, to be instruments of evangelization and mission.
Annually, December 16 is National Youth Day for the Philippine Church.
